Dad update

Well, I visited my dad in ICU yesterday. He's still there. But he seems to be fine. He was very very lucky. The doctor told us that he was this close to a major cardiac infarct. When my mom took him to the hospital his temperature was below 35 C and his heart rate was below 30. They examined him extensively and decided to implant a stent in the worst-off place in his heart. The infarct occured in the same place he'd had an infarct 18 years ago. But now other parts of his heart are also affected. They debated operating on him right there. But in the end they postponed it and he'll have an examination this summer where they'll probably set another stent or operate on him. So it had been much worse than we guessed. But in the end he's fine now. He doesn't feel sick anymore, he's quite cheery and was happy when mom and I visited him. We are all very relieved. My mom will keep a very close eye on him from now on. He doesn't like doctors and thinks he knows whats best for himself. Mom will make him take his pills regularly (he'd stopped taking them on his own) and will go with him to see his doctor since he's prone to edit what the doc's told him. Well, all's well that ends well. It could have been so much worse. At least now we know that he has to be careful. No one had this on their radar.
