So Friday was the big day. Payroll day. That is checking the data for payroll before giving the go-ahead for real. I started Thursday afternoon and spent Friday from 7.30 am till 7.30 pm on it. Can you say exhausting? So Monday it's all about last minute corrections, then reports, then the actual payments, then taxes. And when all this is over I'm done with the first payroll that I orchestrated all on my own. We're talking about nearly 5.000 employees all told. About 400 of which are my immediate responsibility (there went my Friday). I think I avoided all major disasters. Let's hope for the best! When everything's over and went more or less alright I think I can be proud of myself.
My sister turned 30 yesterday. As she went to a wedding in the evening she didn't throw a party of her own. Instead she celebrated with her sister-in-law Friday evening. My parents went. (it's about 350 km from here) Because of payroll I couldn't make it. I felt bad about it because when I turned 30 I had a huge party and my family gave me the greatest present ever (invited a friend from Singapore to Germany). Instead I went to the birthday party of my parents' neighbour yesterday. My best friend was invited too. It was really nice, nice people, nice chatting, really good food. I was exhausted and went to bed early (about 1 am). But then I couldn't sleep. I watched some TV, listened to some music (bad idea because it never calms me down). At 5 am I gave in and got up. So NO sleep at all. Which might explain why I'm feeling dead right now. I'm only conscious because of several mugs of really strong coffee. Feeling a bit jittery. But I'm determined to make it till at least 10 pm since I don't want to wake up again in the middle of the night which would happen if I turned in now. To sum it up, last week was interesting but draining, the weekend was really exhausting and the next week or two won't be much better. Yay
